The Lemon Pipers! Kind of a one-hit-wonder band from the 60's. Their song Green Tambourine is a perfect piece of psychedelia that plunges you deep into hand tracers and tye dye. 

A band from Wilmslow

English rock band Doves has a dreary drone for the evening: Ambition. It'll cut you down, as some songs do, but it's perfectly beautiful.  

There is no young, there is no old

Reach out and touch your soul. Advice from The Temptations in their 8+ minute song Take A Stroll Through Your Mind. It starts with one of the five gentleman singing a soul ballad alongside a groovy bass. Then that loud funky guitar comes in with a new gentleman's voice. Then you get that big, booming, deep-voiced gentleman before a final heavy guitar riff that trots back to the sneaky bass with our first voice, but not before the song closes with a gong. What a sweet track. Go, Temptations, Go. You're hip as ever.

gay stuff. disco. bored people. a poorly executed fist-fight. sandwiches without too much meat and stuff on them. records that you used to hate but are kind of cool now that you heard them again years later at your friend's house. hipster nonsense. midrange, and not so much bass-and-treble. an engine that needs the timing looked at and is running at capacity. a band.

He doesn't do it all on his own, of course. Some of his touring/live musicians include Pat Mahoney (drums), J.D. Mark (guitar), and Nancy Whang (keyboards, synth) among others. Too Much Love was released on the 2005 self-titled album. It rulez. I LOVE JAMES MURPHY.
