Here is an organ-infused, soul(ful or less, I'm not quite sure) version of Sweet Jane by a short-haired and blond Lou Reed. He's shiny and skinny, like any good disco. He's even wearing sunglasses on stage. Join in or get out.

Moon Unit

Escape - Moon Duo. It's a gorgeous, krautrock-esque, psychedelic experience. It's also the last and title track on this cyclical drone of distortion.

Pepper Rabbit - the toast of the blog world (and soon to be real world). I really believe in these guys. And tonight they are performing at the Bootleg theatre in Los Angeles. If you're around town, come on by. Even if for no other reason than to pick a fight with me for slacking on my blog. Yes, I've missed a few days recently but I'll pick up the slack I promise. Like Christina Applegate in Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead. Remember how she gets all the siblings to clean the house and throw together that delightful fashion show at the end? That'll be me. Any day now.

I was gonna shimmy an old John Lennon up here, but then I had a better idea. This song from who knows when called Somewhere by The Tymes (track 8). No wait I do know when-- 1963/64. Be sure to listen to the first track as well, So Much In Love.

On a side note, you know what, I've said it before and I'll say it again. Die Antwoord can suck my dick. You South African hipster bastards, you're lowly and talentless and using every cheap ploy in the book to get famous. Stay out of my eardrums thank you very much.

Man with a spine

Abba Zabba, not only a delicious, taffy, peanut-butter infused candy bar, but a bluesy number from Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band. From the first proper studio album Safe as Milk, Beef begins to show us just what his glory is capable of. I once read that while a journalist was interviewing him, he got up in the middle of a question and stood next to the phone moments before it rang. YOU RULE DON VAN VLIET.
